Organizational Change for an Incident Command System

The Solomon Islands Flash Flood in 2014 was a catalyst event for World Vision Solomon Islands (WVSI). After the flash flood, WVSI integrated the World Vision International (WVI) Emergency Response System (EMS) into their operations.  As part of the project with WVSI, an organizational change process was used to assist to identify the most needed organizational processes to increase response effectiveness.

Key leaders in WVSI were able to create a strategic path forward through reflecting on the flood response, through using an organizational change process (Lencioni, 2012), and by integrating an understanding of the WVI EMS in to their processes.  These steps led to the organization developing an Incident Command System.
